Mushrooms are among the world’s most delicious and nutritious foods, and Morgan Hill is proud of its role as a premier mushroom producer. California ranks second in the nation in mushroom production, and more than 60% of those mushrooms are grown in Santa Clara and Monterey counties. The Santa Clara Valley produces more than 20,000 tons of mushrooms with a total crop value of $50 million. Most of those mushrooms are white, Crimini and Portabella varieties. The festival version will be prepared by Catering by Diana with fresh, just-picked, locally grown mushrooms donated by local growers. Sales benefit Rotary Club of Morgan Hill, which will buy dictionaries for kids.
